Within our Medical Products Group, we design and manufacture bionic exoskeleton devices that provide functional rehabilitation, gait training, and upright, weight-bearing mobility for patients with spinal cord and stroke injuries. We are looking for a senior embedded systems engineer with strong experience in software architecture, embedded systems, and robotics. The ideal candidate will feel extremely comfortable making high level software architecture decisions and writing and executing embedded code.
You will be responsible for the realization of software and firmware at the CPU and embedded processor level. You will work closely with the team to help architect the next generation system and implement efficient code and best design practices. You will participate in the full product lifecycle from research and development, to product development, verification, validation, and product release.
Previous experience working with a Class II+ medical system is highly desired; however experience working in a similarly safety-critical and regulated market (auto, medical, space) is acceptable.
+ Conceptualize, plan, design, analyze and test embedded software and firmware.
+ Participate in software architecture high level design decisions.
+ Develop and maintain efficient code written with best practices in mind.
+ Perform Ekso device testing for validation, verification and reliability.
+ Develop and maintain product documentation.
+ Work within a highly diverse technical team on cross functional integrated systems (mechanics, electronics, materials, and control)
+ Participate in the discovery, evaluation, prioritization and implementation of improvements to current Ekso devices and processes.
+ Work within the quality management system at Ekso Bionics
+ Communicate progress and risks with team and project manager.
+ Various other tasks and projects you choose to own.
+ 5 to 10 years of experience in embedded systems software design and development.
+ 3 to 5 years of experience in robotics or motion control applications
+ Demonstrated experience using software development best practices – requirements capture, design reviews, code reviews, coding conventions.
+ Expertise in C/C++ necessary
+ Demonstrated mastery developing within an RTOS environment.
+ Experience with CAN or EtherCAT is highly desired
+ Experience in a regulated industry is required, medical device experience is highly desired.
+ Familiarity with Class B/C software and software lifecycle processes (IEC 62304) or equivalently regulated environment is desired.
+ Demonstrated ability to complete complicated design projects.
+ Experience designing and proving compliance to medical safety standards is desired but not required.
+ Superb verbal, written, and graphical communication abilities.
